CEYLON SAPPHIRES

BORN FROM ANCIENT EARTH

A GEMSTONE SHAPED BY GEOLOGICAL TIME

Sri Lanka is home to one of the world's most remarkable gemstone-producing environments. Much of the island is formed from ancient Precambrian crystalline rocks, shaped by intense geological processes over hundreds of millions of years.

Within this extraordinary geological heritage, corundum crystals formed under high-temperature metamorphic conditions. Over immense periods of weathering and erosion, these gemstones were released from their host rocks and carried into the alluvial gravels where many Ceylon Sapphires are found today.

A SAPPHIRE FIT FOR ROYALTY

Ceylon Sapphire holds a distinguished place in modern royal history. The iconic 12-carat blue sapphire engagement ring first worn by Diana, Princess of Wales, was later given by Prince William to Catherine Middleton.

A Sri Lankan sapphire became one of the world's most recognisable royal gemstones.

THE TRADITIONAL SIGNIFICANCE OF SAPPHIRE

For centuries, sapphire has been associated with wisdom, sincerity, faithfulness and protection. Across cultures, it has been treasured not only for its beauty, but also for the meaning and symbolism traditionally attributed to the stone.
